May 2014 Newsletter
Welcome to the May, 2014 edition of the Martha Canfield Library's e-newsletter. If you have any suggestions, you can email them to our hotmail account or leave them in our suggestion jar on the front desk.
Did you discover lots of collectible items while doing your spring cleaning? Are you trying to decide what to do with them? The Library can help you decide with a special program "Selling Online with eBay" on Thursday, May 22 at 7:00pm. John Schaub, owner of Interchange at Vermont in Sunderland, will explain the process of selling online using eBay as a primary example. The program will cover how to decide the appropriate market for your items; what they're worth; how to promote your items through words and photographs; and how to set up your first eBay account. There will also be a Question and Answer segment to respond to individual questions.
We are thinking of starting a beading group. If you are interested, please let us know what days and times would work for you. You can email, call or stop in to see us.
Local artist Marilyn Cavallari's recent oil paintings will be featured through May 28. Marilyn received her BA in Fine Arts from the State University at Buffalo. Marilyn's contemporary landscape and still life oil paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows throughout the region.
Join us on Wednesday mornings at 10:30am for a preschool story-time. We'll read a few stories, and perhaps do a craft, listen to a song or play with a puppet.
Book lovers, it's that time of year again - time to head to our summer book sale in the Arlington Community House on Route 7A. The sale opens for the Memorial Day weekend on Friday, May 23 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, and continues on May 24, 25 and 26 from 10:00am to 4:00pm each day. After the holiday weekend we'll be open for our regular hours of Fridays 1:00pm to 4:00pm and Saturdays and Sundays10:00am to 4:00pm.
As always, we accept donations of clean books in good condition during our regular hours at the Library. Please, no mold, mouse droppings or bugs!
We need volunteers the week of May 19 to help put books on the shelves at the book sale in preparation for our opening on May 23. If you can spare an hour or three, please call the Library and let us know when you can help.
